I am experiencing some weird behavior with data in my Postgres 11 db in Nitro so I completely want to reinstall it.

I used

nitro db destroy

to remove the complete container, but after creating it again, all databases from before were still there.

Why is that? Can someone point me in the right direction.

P.S. Also trying to remove the problem database before did not work:

Which database should we remove?
  1. postgres
  2. nitro
  3. xxx
  4. yyy
Enter your selection: 3
  … removing xxx Error: rpc error: code = Internal desc = error removing database: Exit Status: 1
Commands: --host=postgres-11-5432.database.nitro --port=5432 --username=nitro -c DROP DATABASE IF EXISTS xxx;

Is the data kept outside of the container? If yes, where can I delete it?

  • I think under the hood they use docker. Databases are usually persisted by binding them to a volume. I think this must be located somewhere in your local docker. You could have a look here: youtube.com/watch?v=p2PH_YPCsis. Maybe that points you in the right direction? Nov 26 at 15:25
