I'm working on migrating an existing project, that is currently made in CodeIgniter and I'm trying to port it to Craft. Everything is great except...

I'm running into two issues:

  1. Have a page counter (view count)

Looking at things, it seems any add/update functionality needs to go via a Plugin. Is that correct? For a simple update:

update results
set clicks = clicks + 1
where id = ".$articleID."

I need to write an entire plugin/module?

  1. I'm using MySQL's NATURAL LANGUAGE SEACH, which just changed the Query a bit, which is nothing more then:

SELECT * FROM content HERE MATCH (title) AGAINST ('super keywords' IN NATURAL LANGUAGE MODE)

I need to also make a Plugin?

I'm a bit in a hurry and don't want to completely dive into plugin development for these quite forward issues.

Can anyone tell me when I'm using pluginfactory.io - to get started - which of these settings I have to switch on? Controllers? Elementtypes? Records? Services? Tasks? Utilities?

I hope I'm wrong and could implement these things more directly...

I can't speak to most of this, it's a bit unclear what you are asking. But as the author of the View Count plugin (which it sounds like you may be using), feel free to DM me on Craft Discord. – Lindsey D Jun 9 at 18:26
